BACTERICIDAL ACTIVITY
Tea Tree Oil is one of the strongest broad-spectrum natural antiseptics known to man. The minimum concentration in a solution needed to inhibit and kill growth of pathogenic bacteria, fungus and virus generally lies in an area between 0.5 to 2%.
One of the main reasons why Tea Tree Oil is so effective is probably the fact that it contains more than 100 different organic components. All have their own individual qualities and together they work synergistically to create a diverse army to fight a wide range of micro-organisms.
Because of the high and rapid efficacy it is also important to mention that 100% pure oil should be used with common sense. Pure Tea Tree Oil will be effective in very small amounts and that is why most treatments are described in drops per application. Overuse of Tea Tree Oil on a condition will not give a faster effect but could overstimulate the skin and not allow the problem a chance to heal. Bacteria only needs to be reduced to enable a problem to recede.
The pure oil is useful for drop-on applications where there is direct infection, insect bites, wounds etc. Once infection is gone, usually after a couple of applications, it is a matter of preventing infection and encourage healing which is best done with one of the special formulated Australian Bodycare individual products.
